Our summer courses at the Disabled Social Entrepreneurship Center, which was full of 141 students, ended with an unforgettable night of closing. FEV Mosaic Education Project

In 2017, thanks to a protocol signed with the İpekyolu Development Agency, the Foundation for the Physically Disabled launched the project in Gaziantep. The aim of the Mosaic Education Project is to ensure the social integration of individuals with intellectual disabilities, support their development into mentally and physically self-sufficient individuals, and create opportunities for them to utilize their talents to their fullest potential. With a 75% grant from the İpekyolu Development Agency and a 25% contribution from our foundation, the project, with its innovative nature, has served as an encouraging model for similar initiatives. The “Mosaic Education for the Intellectually Disabled,” a first in the region, implemented by the FEV Gaziantep branch, targeted individuals with mild intellectual disabilities who were considered “educable.” Although the plan was to recruit 20 students with intellectual disabilities, 33 students participated in the training due to high demand. At the end of the nine-month program, 33 individuals with disabilities successfully completed their mosaic training, and the vibrant works they produced were exhibited on various platforms and received considerable acclaim.

The Sports Skills and Coordination Training Project provides athletic skills training for children aged 4-16 with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and trainable intellectual disabilities. The Sports Skills and Coordination Training Project provides athletic skills training for children aged 4-16 with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and trainable intellectual disabilities. The Sports Skills and Coordination Training Project for Children with Disabilities aims to increase physical mobility by providing children with disabilities with exercises outside of physical medicine and rehabilitation programs. To this end, a sports skills and coordination training center has been established to provide training. A training program is implemented under the supervision of expert instructors, which teaches children with disabilities exercises that discipline and develop range of motion. The training has resulted in visible changes in children with disabilities, and one child with disabilities who came to the training in a wheelchair has taken his first steps. Throughout the project period, the training programs envisioned for the project were implemented in accordance with the established curriculum, and significant progress was made in improving the mobility of children with disabilities by the end of the training. In addition to the SBK training programs for children with disabilities, training is provided to develop basic skills and coordination, physical condition maps are created, and they are guided towards relevant sports. As with all projects conducted by the Foundation for the Physically Disabled, the Disabled Children’s Sports Skills and Coordination Training Project aims to ensure the integration of children with disabilities into society and the creation of an infrastructure that will enable them to become self-sufficient individuals.

The “Fevpark Dragos Barrier-Free Life and Recreation Area” project, which will be carried out by our foundation on an area of 26 decares in Kartal Dragos, Istanbul, aims to create an exemplary environment for the integration of the disabled with the society. The establishment of a 1780 m² area of life center in the Hatay Region, Mustafa Kemal University Campus for medical, psycho-social rehabilitation and recreation purposes has been completed for the disabled living in the region, especially the children and women who lost their limbs in the 6 February Earthquake. UNITS 1. Prosthesis Orthosis and Rehabilitation Center The main purpose of the living center is to meet the needs of orthotics, primarily amputated or paralyzed children and women due to or before the earthquake. 2. Production base for disabled mothers and women with disabilities The unit where various cooking activities are held in order to ensure that mothers with disabled children and disabled women participate in production and socialize in the region. 3. Library – Audio Library Considering the problems in the study conditions in the region, the unit that provides positive discrimination to children with disabilities, study and library opportunities. 4. We experienced a very striking example of this in the employment of a disabled person who returned from the doors of many workplaces and had a hard time using one hand and leg. The first company we took our disabled friend to see this obstacle as an “obstacle” and could not notice our friend’s desire to work. We told our friend, who was sad to return from another door, not to be hopeless, that this determination would definitely be a reward. And we had a job interview the previous week; We decided to bring it together with a company that left a positive impression on the employment of the disabled. The negotiations were what we hoped for, and he was in a way that he never expected, and the positive result. A day later, when we went to the employer to take care of the official procedures, we met our disabled friend, he delivered his documents and was leaving the workplace to complete a missing document. That sad person was gone and replaced by a hopeful person with the joy inside him. When we went to the employer, the employer told us that our disabled friend was very happy while delivering the documents, that he thanked them very much, and that this situation affected them and the officials in the relevant department. The reason why they employ our disabled people so easily; He explained that they had previously employed a disabled worker with the same disability, and that they had witnessed that if the person was given the opportunity, they had witnessed that if the person was given the opportunity, he could overcome anything if he had the determination to work. He was a disabled person who was a reference to our disabled friend.

The protagonist of the success story is Muammer Witness. Muammer, has an orthopedic disability. One of those who say hello to life with the disability of Muammer. He has difficulty using both hands and walking. Muammer has a difficult life for the outside minister. But when you talk to him for a while, the joy of life and determination in him fascinates you. Muammer thinks that there is no situation that restricts his life, although he has a barrier that he can use as an excuse for not participating in production for many people, he acts accordingly. Despite the employers who evaluated him with a biased approach, he did not lose anything from his determination and expectations. Muammer, who has to take a break from his education after secondary school, continues his unfinished education by attending open high school. Muammer has also improved himself in computers, and he uses a very fast keyboard despite his existing obstacles in both hands. However, Despite all this, it may be insufficient to break the existing obstacles and prejudices. We had previously held job interviews in accordance with Muammer’s qualifications in the job matchings we made within the scope of our project. Even though Muammer had the qualifications to do that job, employers gave negative answers with the thought that Muammer could not do his job due to his disability. Muammer did not lose anything of his determination in the face of all these negative answers. With our confidence in him, we continued our search for a job in accordance with his qualifications. At the end of this interview marathon, we organized a job interview where Muammer’s qualifications can work efficiently. We have ensured that employment is realized as a result of Muammerin’s positive, human resources’ non-biased approach. Muammer, which we employ as data entry staff despite the obstacle at hand, continues to spread the joy of life and positive energy in it in business life. Muammer’s performance and success in his job has also received the great appreciation of his managers.

Finally, a job opportunity suitable for Kadir has emerged… Every meeting we make in the project We Produce With Our Essence welcomes us with a different story. Again, in one of our interviews, we met a 19-year-old disabled candidate named Kadir, who had orthopedics, who said that he could not find a job even though he wanted to work before, and who expressed his happy time due to being called. Kadir welcomed this opportunity as a gift presented to him. He was constantly calling and wanted to know the day he was going to the job interview. Even though we said that we would contact him again when a job came out in line with the information he gave each time, we could not help ourselves from being a partner in his sweet excitement. Finally, when there was a suitable job opportunity for Kadir, we made a job interview plan and invited him. The job interview passed hopefully and the employer promised that Kadir would do his best for his employment in a period of 15 days. However, the development did not come as expected and Kadir’s employment could not be realized. In the next time, Kadir was constantly calling us and wanted a job. We were saddened by not being able to respond to his determination to work, and we were doing our best for a job research suitable for the obstacle group. Although we could not give a positive answer to him in every conversation with Kadir, we were trying to support the unquenchable light of hope in him. Finally, a workplace that we directed a disabled candidate called us for an urgent need for personnel. The workplace is very close to Kadir, but when viewed from the perspective of the employer, there was a possibility that Kadir’s disability group would not coincide with the job. We still had a job interview, thinking that Kadir would try a chance and convince the employer with his determination. As a result of the meeting, Kadir convinced the employer as we hoped and was accepted to the job. In the three-day period to get back to work, we were constantly faced with Kadir’s joy phones. He didn’t fit in his container, he was letting us know when he prepared the smallest paperwork. In the end, he did not lose hope, and the employer got a lot in return for his trust in Kadir.
